Rapid assessment/mapping of productive sectors / Selection of targeted sectors

In alignment with the Palestinian National Employment Strategy (2021-2025) and in response to the ongoing socio-economic challenges in Gaza, RAI Consult supported the “Enhanced Resilience of MSMEs and Improved Access to Decent Jobs in Gaza” project. This project, led by the ILO, aims to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), enhance employment-intensive approaches in the construction sector, and create sustainable job opportunities—particularly for unemployed women and youth.

As part of RAI Consult’s commitment to fostering economic resilience and employment generation, we conducted an Assessment and Mapping of Productive Sectors in Gaza to identify innovative and smart solutions for MSMEs.

Assessment Objectives

To support the project’s core mission, our approach focused on:

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Sector Selection: Consulting key stakeholders to identify the most promising and priority productive sectors for intervention.
  • Sectoral Analysis in Gaza’s Context: Reviewing existing studies to assess the local economic landscape and its potential for growth.
  • Employment Potential Assessment: Identifying sectors with the capacity to generate sustainable employment opportunities.
  • Challenges & Barriers Analysis: Mapping the technical and managerial obstacles hindering sectoral development.
  • Strategic Recommendations: Proposing a list of potential solutions tailored to enhance productivity and growth in the targeted sectors.

This assessment provides a data-driven foundation for developing effective, innovative interventions, ensuring that MSMEs in Gaza receive targeted support to maximize their impact on economic development and job creation.
